New Perspectives in Castle Studies is an online, virtual conference organized by the Department of History at Saint Louis University. The conference will be open to all colleagues around the world interested in castle studies, and will emphasize new approaches to the study of the most unique and defining architectural feature of the Middle Ages.

The conference is scheduled for the week of April 5, 2021, with sessions scheduled through the week to accommodate multiple global time zones. A conference schedule will be published in March.

Organization and Registration

New Perspectives in Castle Studies is a virtual conference sponsored by Saint Louis University, St. Louis, MO. The conference will run from April 6-9, 2021.

The proceedings of the conference will be published with Archaeopress immediately following the conference. Participants in the conference will be encouraged to submit near final articles for publication within two weeks of the conclusion of the conference.

Participants who are deliver papers at the conference will be asked to submit a nominal fee of $50 to offset the cost of publication. Participants with academic and professional affiliations are asked to seek additional funds to support the subvention of publication costs.

Attendees of the conference who are not delivering a paper are asked to submit a $10 conference fee.
