Call for Papers

The organizers of New Perspectives in Castle Studies ask for submissions of individual paper titles and sessions of up to three papers on a related topic. Papers should be twenty minutes in length. We expect to publish the proceedings of the conference relatively quickly. We will therefore ask for the submission of a complete text at the time of delivery of your lecture. You will have up to two weeks to make changes to the text given discussions and feedback from the conference. The format for the submission of the text will follow.

In general, the conference seeks new and original perspectives on castle studies, not limited to issues such as new approaches and techniques to the study of castles, digital analysis of castles, questions of power, gender, and ethnicity related to castles, and critique of established ways of looking at castles.

The deadline for submission of proposals is March 1, 2021. We ask that those submitting paper titles who wish to have the article peer-reviewed for publication submit a near-complete draft of the paper by April 15, 2021. After the conference concludes, participants will be given a two week window to modify their paper before we ask for a final draft. Citation format will be emailed to participants.
